Jeremiah 29:11-“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
Growing up, I was the oldest of 6 kids. When you’re the oldest of 3 boys and twin girls, you help your momma out. Naturally, this has given me a desire to be a mother too. When my husband and I got married, we wanted to have children right away. On November 11,2012 we were expecting our first bundle of joy. However, on December 17th we learned that the Lord had other plans for our bundle. We would only know him/her in our hearts and would not get to meet our angel baby.
To say that our hearts were broken is an understatement. We have struggled with infertility since then and Jeremiah 29:11 has been one of many Scriptures we lean into for comfort.
We have found hope in heartache. Our lives are surrounded by children. We have many nieces and nephews we love on and enjoy those little ones in our church as well. We get our fill of those kids when holiday’s and birthday parties roll around. We get to enjoy sleepover’s and trips to the water park. It goes on and on..
We know that one day, we will be blessed with a child or two or more. We trust the Lord and His plan for our lives. Does that mean we don’t hurt or long for what isn’t right now? We sure do! Every single day!
I don’t know what the Lord is asking you to find hope in today. But, if you’re heartbroken, please know that Jesus can mend the broken places in your heart. He did ours. That doesn’t mean you won’t hurt, it means that where many would put a period, our Lord puts a comma. We don’t know what the future for us is in having children. But whatever Jesus has in store for us we know that He has plans for our good. For hope.
