4 Steps to a Stronger Relationship with Jesus

LSM2

1. Spend time with Him: Set aside time daily just to listen and lean into Him with thankfulness even if it is just 5 minutes.

2. Invest in a Bible Study: Go to a local Bible Store or order one online. There are so many studies out there that will help you dig into a specific book of the Bible or topic. You can find some online for free or for a low monthly fee. Go to youtube.com for video teachings or studygateway.com for videos that you can order a study guide for. There are many, many options these are just a couple.

3. Start a Prayer Journal: Write down your prayers and how the Lord is responding to them. You quickly will see how He is moving in your life. Click on our 2017 Prayer Project tab for a free downloadable guide to starting your own prayer journal! 2018 is upon us!

4. Serve Others: As you serve others, be prayerful of how you can tell them about Jesus. Spreading the Gospel is easy. Don’t complicate it. Just tell them about your journey!

The last 17 years of my journey with Christ has not been easy. I am a Mama to six, Mimi to three, working from home, and we are a homeschool family. It seems like I am always racing against the clock. Setting aside time daily was super hard in the beginning but I found that it was harder to NOT spend time with Him than it was to creatively find ways to carve out a few minutes a day with Him. Those first few tries were tough. I would get the kids involved in an activity or down for a nap and just as I would sit down with my Bible and journal, I would have to stop and tend to something or someone. Those early days were often frustrating and I would find that I would quickly give up and feel defeated. However, looking back.. this is what I didn’t realize… I remember that even in the interruptions of life, nothing could keep me from talking to Him. I would pray as I changed those diapers, sing praise and worship music while doing dishes, and in those short breaks I would quickly write down a verse from a Bible study or sermon on an index card and post it where I could read it in passing. There were those occasional nap times that gave me a few minutes to journal and pour my heart out to Him. Many of my 10 week Bible studies took me 20 weeks to complete. Even still, those creative things that I did to spend time with Jesus was worth the struggle. My serving others during those early years was simply cultivating my relationships with other Mama’s. My profession was helping other Mama’s breastfeed their babies and as I developed relationships with them,  I shared easy ways to connect with Christ while raising a family. It was how ministry began for me.

I don’t know where you are in your journey. I don’t know what distractions or schedules you keep up with. But I do know that Jesus is totally worth the struggle. These 4 steps I took kept me close to Jesus. I pray they help you too!

Still finding ways to live stronger in Christ,

Shana
